Rogers is a city of 74,000 that grew up around downtown Walnut Street and Lake Atalanta and now runs from the historic district out to Pinnacle Hills, the Promenade and the Beaver Lake shore. On May 26, 2024, four tornadoes and a wall of straight-line wind came through Benton County in the early morning — two EF-3s near Decatur, two EF-2s near Centerton, and winds that destroyed the Susie Q Malt Shop downtown, tore boat docks off Beaver Lake and did an estimated $33 million in damage to Rogers city property. Ten people died across four Arkansas counties and 120,000 lost power.
The roofs that were replaced that summer were replaced fast, by whoever was in town, and some of them are showing it — lifted shingles, missing ice barrier, flashing caulked instead of replaced.
